Spending Money

The kids’ school is having a book fair at our local Barnes and Noble this week, which means that a portion of the book sales goes directly to the school. As I love books, good causes, free gift wrapping, and strong coffee, our attendance at story time today was a no-brainer. We met several friends from school to make foam sticker crafts, listen to Hannukah stories, and drink lattes (me, not my kids.)

Part-Time Jobs for Moms That Pay Well…

With our booming economy, I have no need to work outside of the home. I wake up in the morning to wads of cash being thrown through my front window by random passers-by. I shop at designer stores and eat out seven nights a week, usually leaving 100% tips for the waitstaff. I also have enough money left over at the end of every month to donate to ten charities of my choice, and I make it a point to pay for everyone else’s gas each time I fill up at the station.

But if you’re not so lucky, perhaps you’re looking for part-time work that fits in with your busy schedule as a full-time mom.

My Physical Exam

This morning at the early hour of 8 am, we had a visit from an R.N. I’ve never had the pleasure of an at-home physical exam before (my husband’s laughing out loud at that comment), but since we’re contracting a new life insurance policy on me, this is one of the requirements.

Teaching the Value of Money

We decided to start giving Annabel an allowance, one dollar a week. It may seem cheap, but I think it’s a good solid number to start with. Not only can she learn about how to spend her money, but she can also learn how to delineate between different coins and their values.
