This morning, I was supposed to pick up my parents at the airport. I called to check that their flight was on time, cajoled the kids into going to the bathroom before we left, and headed out for the 25-minute ride. Almost an hour later, due to Tropical Storm Bonnie and three traffic accidents, we pulled up to the Arrivals area.

Contrasts |
Usually when we go on a family trip, whether it’s been to Disney World or to Kansas City, we take about a bijillion photos of our kids. I’m sure most of my friends hate receiving that email from Kodak Gallery from me, because they know that I’ve uploaded 126 photographs of my children in various poses for them to enjoy at their leisure.
This past weekend, Antony and I were fortunate enough (thanks to Amex reward points and my parents) to travel on a 3-day ALONE TRIP to Montreal.

London with Children |

Our family trip was made even more economical because we stayed with family, but we still enjoyed many of the touristy things that London has to offer.

Update: My Overseas Trip with Kids |
We returned on Thursday evening from our 2 1/2 week trip to England. It was a worthwhile adventure, as we visited my husband’s family, and true to form, I think my kids were troopers! Amidst the sightseeing (the London Eye, Hampton Court Palace!!!, the Natural History Museum), I believe that kids anywhere are just kids, and that you need to make sure that they have time to be themselves, whether at home or far away.

Flying with Children |
We leave tonight for our overseas family visit. Flying with my children is always an adventure, but usually it’s only a 3-hour trip to Kansas City. Our 8.5 hour flight may be a bit, well, more challenging. I’m packed, I’m ready to go (I think), and my carry-on bag is stuffed to the rim. Here’s my checklist for that carry-on bag:
